If you have a sense of how far you want to travel before stopping — whether it's your next campground, just for the night, a rest break, or a meal — the Measure tool helps you visualize where that distance lands on your route and find places to stop in that area.
This is a trip planning feature and requires an RV Pro membership.
Trip planning is available on the Campendium website. Trip planning is not yet available in the mobile app. If you are on a mobile device, you can access trip planning on campendium.com in a web browser.
To use the measure tool, you must have at least two routed stops on a trip.
Opening the Measure Tool
After adding at least two stops to your trip, open the Itinerary from the left side panel. Click the Measure tool button (ruler icon) in the button grid at the top of the itinerary panel.
Measuring from a Stop
- Open the itinerary panel on for your trip (left side panel)
- Click Measure tool in the itinerary panel
- Select the stop you want to measure from — or search for it by name if your itinerary is long
- Click Next
- Enter how long you want to drive from that stop. Use the dropdown to switch between hours or miles. Decimal values are supported (e.g. 5.5 hours or 5.25 hours)
- Click Calculate
The map zooms to the point on your route that corresponds to the distance you entered, showing a measurement pin where you'd land.
Finding a Place to Stop
After measuring, use the search bar at the top of the map to browse campgrounds, dump stations, fuel stops, or any other category near the measurement point. If you're not ready to commit to a specific place, you can add a nearby city as a stop or drop a pin instead.
Adjusting the Measurement
After calculating, you can edit the drive length and click Calculate again to see how different distances compare — useful for deciding between stopping for the night at 4 hours vs. pushing on to 6.
To edit a measurement you've already set, click the pencil icon next to the measurement pin on the map.
Other Ways to Launch the Measure Tool
From the ... menu on a stop card: Click ... on any stop card in the itinerary and select Measure from here to start measuring from that stop directly.
From the map: Click a waypoint pin (numbered circle) on the map and select Measure to start measuring from that stop.
A Few Things to Know
- One measurement at a time — Starting a new measurement replaces the previous one. You can't have multiple measurement pins active at the same time.
- Routed waypoints only — You can only measure from stops that are part of the driving route. Routed stops are shown with numbered circles. Excluded stops cannot be used as measurement starting points.
- Removing a measurement — Click the pencil icon next to the measurement pin on the map, then click Remove measurement from route.
- Clearer map view — If you want to see cities and towns more clearly around the measurement pin, toggle Places off in your map settings to reduce visual clutter.
