What is Autopilot?

Autopilot is Campendium's AI-powered stop suggestion engine. It recommends places to camp, eat, and explore based on your route and trip preferences — drawing on data from 42 million real trips.

Autopilot requires an RV Pro membership.

Trip planning is available on the Campendium website. Trip planning is not yet available in the mobile app, but you can open Campendium.com on a web browser on your phone to use trip planning features!

Two Ways to Use Autopilot

Autopilot works at two points in trip planning: when you create a new trip, and while you're building out an existing itinerary.

At Trip Creation

When you start a new trip, you can choose Plan with Autopilot as your planning mode. After entering your starting point and destination, Autopilot generates recommendations to add to your trip.

You're not locked in to what Autopilot suggests. If you like a suggestion, click Add to add it to your trip. If you're not interested, click X to swap it out for another suggestion. When you're ready, click Launch Trip to open you trip on the map to keep planning.

Mid-Trip Planning

Once you have an active trip, you can click the Add to Trip button in the left menu and select Use Autopilot to get recommendations.

You can choose from the categories listed below.

  • Places to Camp — campgrounds and overnight options near that stop
  • Activities and Experiences — things to do in the area
  • Places to Eat — restaurants and food stops nearby
