The Explore panel is the default view in the left sidebar when you open Campendium's map. It gives you quick entry points for finding campgrounds and discovering places near you or along your route — without needing to search for anything specific.
What's in the Explore Panel
Free Public Camping — A shortcut that applies the Public Land category and shows free camping near your current map view. The fastest way to find dispersed camping and public land sites in any area.
Bookable RV Parks — A shortcut that shows campgrounds you can book directly through Campendium near your current map view.
Camper's Choice Winners — A horizontally scrolling row of highly rated campgrounds on Campendium, based entirely on community reviews. Each card shows the CC badge, campground name, location, and buttons to + add to a trip or save. Click View all to browse the full list.
CAMPalerts — A card linking to CAMPalerts, which notify you the moment a sold-out site becomes available at a campground you're watching.
Camping Within a Day's Drive — A scrollable grid of campgrounds within a short drive of your current location, with ratings and Book Now links where available.
With a Trip Open
When you have an active trip open and click Explore, the panel gains a route search radius selector at the top: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, or ∞ miles from your route. All search results and shortcuts filter to places within that distance of your route rather than the full map.
The Free Public Camping and Bookable RV Parks shortcuts respect the selected radius — clicking either one shows matching places along your route, not the whole map.
